Stoked Presents:
Jake C
Saturday, April 24th 2021

We are beyond stoked to be hosting the legend, Jake C, on Saturday, April 24th 2021. VIP tickets go on sale Monday, April 5th 2021 at 7:10PM EST on our website

Like most of us, Jake C found an interest and passion for glass starting in his teenage years. When he turned 18 he moved to Bellingham, WA and discovered a vibrant yet secluded scene and spent a few years trying to find his way “in”. Shortly after turning 21, he was in a local bar rocking some traditional early 2000’s fashion - He was playing pool and had large gaudy metal jewelry in his oversized stretched ears. A local named Aaron approached him at the table and said, “Hey man, I can make you glass plugs. Come to my studio anytime - bring some bud or a six pack” and their friendship was born. Jake spent the next few months hanging out at Aarons studio in his spare time watching him blow glass any chance he could get.

One day when Jake arrived to hangout, Aaron mentioned he had a friend who was hiring at a production tube company and would be happy to put him in contact. Having no previous experience Jake was able to land the job and began learning and working on a lathe. He spent two years working in the production tube facility (2003-2005) until an opportunity to open a head shop with a long time friend came up and together they opened Gathering.

Jake built a studio next door to Gathering and started producing work on his own. Soon enough one out of three coffee tables in Bellingham had a piece of his glass sitting on them. After a brief stint in the head shop business Jake and his partner decided change gears. Gathering was sold in 2006 to new owners and is still in business today.

Once Jake was free of his head shop ownership it was time to pursue his career in new ways. He found himself a bench at the Nebula, a studio owned by OG Ivan Barrow where Scott Deppe was working and Mothership was born. Jake is known as the Mothership co-founder and worked with them for about 6-7 years.

After Mothership, Jake built a home studio to focus on his solo career and family. Jake is happily married and a father of two awesome kids - Leo and Violet. The life as a glass artist can be quite isolating and after some time of working alone Jake set-up a bench in town at a studio with Dosa, John W, Cody Olson, Jeff Melitz, SpillerWoods and Sagan. He regularly bounces between the two but he’ll be honest with you, he gets more work done at home and enjoys time with his friends in town.

Jake is best known for his signature color palette, unique layered cold working, cane and linework. Jake has really diversified this body of work with a cool mix of his techniques! Join us April 24th and check out what he's been working on!
